Default Dash Intensity

Noob here -- IS will be a week old tomorrow.

Question: What is your preferred dash lighting intensity setting? On some cars, the notch at maximum will turn on interior lights, as well, so I just kept it just below that. Anything special about the notched setting? Or is it simply the maximum? When I set it at notched full blast, I was kinda blinded and it looked a bit overexposed, but I usually like it bright, so I may keep it there. How about you?

Notched setting makes the navigation screen switch to day mode (white background), which most people find too bright. I keep mine a bit below the notch.

I turn mine down quite a bit, a bit below halfway to minimize eye fatigue (60% of my driving is at night).

They say that you shouldn't have the dash at full brightness because it can interfere with your night vision. I keep my dash lighting pretty low for safety even though it doesn't look as nice.

I keep mine just below the click. If you have navigation, the navigation display will switch to night mode (when the headlights are on) when the dash is NOT at full intensity. If your headlights are on auto, your headlights will come on automatically as it gets dark and your navigation will switch to night mode soon after when it gets darker.

how long will take the lights to burn out (or whatever the correct term is)? i like them to the max but i feel like it may be costly.

No need to worry. The rated lifespan for white LEDs is 50,000 hours. For all practical purposes, that's the life of the car.
