Default Those #%&@ engine cover clips!!!

I wind up breaking 2 outta 3 everytime. I've looked at the manual and some of the posts on here, not much luck... any special tricks to reusing them?

I've had trouble with them too. The easiest way to put them back in is to spread out the two side parts and push the middle back up so the button pops out. Then stick the clip in and push the middle button in until it clicks.

Just take your time. I used a flathead screwdriver and a pair of needle nose pliers.

I don't even use the engine covers. I threw them out. They are nothing but a pain in the butt anyways.

Try pushing down on the clips on a solid surface dont push using the center part. it will pop back into place.

hahaha yeah I ended up buying 5 total now. thinking of just getting a whole bunch and leaving them in my garage. Or maybe just not use them at all.

While placing an order I bought 6 from Sewell to have on hand because I kept screwing them up too.I now know the best technique for me.I switched out the '06 type for the newer type.
I use a small screwdriver to pry up the middle rather than push down.Works for me.I do have 6 on hand just in case.

i used to just pry the middle button up until i learned that you can push the middle down until it clicks. Either way i've never had a problem with them breaking.

Try keeping them in a warm place before you replace them...

That's how they work? I was looking at them and couldn't figure it out. I wanted to ask a tech before I buy them.

ya they are a PIA every time you need to adjust things or install bulbs, i had enough of them when i was leveling my HID, now i got to deal with them again tomorrow when i install the joe z. Just take your time, i used a flat head or just lift one of the 3 hingy things and push down on the ground to pop the middle piece out. havent broke one yet . nock on wood.
