Default DRL Off switch on Camry but not the IS??

So I'm traveling for business and I've got an '07 Camry rental, while messing with the various setting, I noticed that below "Auto" function on the headlight switch, there is a "DRL Off" switch that actually turns off the DRL's. Kinda frustrating that a $20K base model Camry has this function and our ~$40K IS's dont!

Sorry for the low quality shots but its dark out and all I have is a cell phone camera but you can make out where it says "DRL Off"

I had an '07 Camry XLE and never knew of any DRL off/on switch.
Then again,I don't like using any auto headlight feature so I didn't look at that area much.

Great pic buds.I had the car 8 months and never saw that DRL print.Seems if you have to choose whether you want Auto On or no DRL.

I don't get why people want to turn off there DRL. Is it only for cosmetic reasons? I think the 2IS looks nicer with the DRL on than off.

Plus it's a safety feature. In Canada,DRLs are mandatory on newer vehicles..

A lot of people like them off for cosmetic reasons only. I don't really have a preference but the ability to turn them off when I wanted to would have been nice.

The older ES330 had that on the switch too. I saw it on the loaner that i was driving. I dont know if the new ES350 has it or night.

I turned mine off because I am using PIAA light bulbs on my high beams and dont feel like wearing them out because the DRL are on. plus if you have them on it drains more power from your battery and inturn need to replace your battery more often. I know it is low wattage but if you left a light on in your house even with low wattage you still use energy. And for those people that only drive 5 mins trips guess what you wont be about charge your battery because you more load on the battery. :P

If you want to turn off your DRL simply unplug the DRL resistor. You could also turn them off with the personalized setting changes but that involves a trip to the dealer.

It's because the DRL's on the 2IS look like fading headlights from a dead battery. I had mine turned off.

Hey Joe

Its not like the IS300....

The new IS won't run with the DRL resistor un-plugged or it might run with a Check engine light on... don't remember exactly...

The only known way is to have the dealer turn them off..

Great analogy, that's exactly what they look like.
