Sorry to bring this from the dead but I have a question.

How do you remove the engine cover?

My car color is SGM same as above, should I paint the whole thing body color and leave the mesh part original?

^ you just gotta yank it out man
it's held by two clips I think, just pull it up

and as far as the color goes, you can paint SMG like JoeZ
but if I were you, I'll go with different color just to stand out

Like "k" said ^^^ you kinda gotta lift up from bottom and start pulling it towards the windshield. Cause it's just held on by some rubber knobsand one metal clip at top. Be carefeull if you pull to hard you might rip
off the two rubber stoppers and they might fall into engine bay.
I had to get a long stick and try to get one from engine bay..

good luck..as far painting it's a personal prefference...

wow they are sickkkkk! does anyone know if this could be done by normal spray-paint, since the cover is plastic, and hi-temp paint might be necessary...?

i think if you're going to get it done, i'd invest a little more money than spray paint.. but that's just how i feel.

can anyone please tell me if i need to use high temperature paint for the engine cover? after a long few hours drive i am able to touch the surface of the engine cover so i'm assuming the normal paint thats on the bodywork with clear coat would work

Did you guys use special paint for the engine cover? I'm having some body pieces painted this week and figured I could have them do my engine cover at the same time with any leftover materials. Also, is it clearcoated?

^^^ That sounds like an interesting mod. Thanks for another idea Brian.

Basically, you'll need plastic primer and high temp paint.

Here's a DIY I found on the net:

http://www.ehow.com/how_5707930_pain...ine-cover.html

If you want the gloss, perhaps clear coat it.

If anyone else has any better guides or instructions, please let me know.

Haha, I remember finding that exact same eHow when looking into this mod. Anyone know good brands for primer and paint? And does it come out well (glossy, even coat) as DIY?
