Default Any reason not to purchase an IS?

I have owned an RX since '98 and have a 400h. But I'd like to replace another SUV with a car. I loved driving the IS 250 AWD at the Taste of Perfection and I've enjoyed it as a loaner. Are there other things I should know?

only thing I can think of is your intended use of the backseat.

Both the fact that its tiny and that it doesn't fold down.

Back seat room is the only reason I can come up with.

Let's talk about FUNCTION:

The IS350 is fast and sporty. The IS250 isn't fast, but it does live up to its "sports sedan" nameplate. If you don't need sporty, the IS is NOT your car.

The IS is a two seater car. It's a four seater when necessary, but tight. It's a five seater when riding with anorexic models, or people going through chemotherapy. If you don't need the cabin room, the IS is NOT your car.

The trunk can fit many bags of groceries, or a couple of golf bags, or luggage for two/three people. It cannot fit big boxes, small furniture, nor long objects. If you need more trunk space, the IS is NOT for you.

Finally, the IS is filled with luxury amenities that rival its competitors. If you can live with a little less luxury, you can definately save a LOT of money WITHOUT the IS.

For those who say power, how much 'power' do you want in a luxury cruiser? If you want speed why buy lexus?

I don't see anything wrong with the power for the what the car is and costs.

Room would be the main issue in IS.

The is250s are too slow for many who come from driving faster cars ( the RX the poster was driving does 0-60 faster than the IS250)
The IS350 does have necesarry power for a lexus the acceleration is good. Lucuary cars are about having amenities and extra things that you wouldn't really need... so I guess more horsepower can count as extra things....

If I'm being totally honest, I'd have to admit that I'm disappointed with the ongoing rattles I've had in this car. I've had the dealer troubleshoot and "repair" a number of rattles, and on my way home tonight my sunroof started rattling loudly.

These are not the types of rattles you have to listen for, mind you. They're the type that make passengers ask what's wrong with your car. The IS350 is fantastic, but chasing rattles is ruining my experience. YMMV.

I just tell people the rattles are from the bass.
I've had the 250 for 8 months and I don't have a single complaint.
