Default smashed rear end

last week, I was at a stop light when a guy rammed his 89 toyota camry into the rear end of my IS at 30mph. The trunk was moved up about 1 inch, the rear bumper is gone, the exhaust was pushed back and off, and camera was damaged. My question is, Do you think this might be terms for totaling? I would much rather buy a whole new car than get this damaged car back.

Any comments/suggestions?

I doubt a 30 MPH rear end collision will total your car.
Your '06 AWD is probably worth around $28K.
Damage would have to be 75% of it's value to be a total loss.

What's the insurance company telling you? Doesn't sound like a total job.

Hope your okay!! Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. The damages are far from totalled. Like Joeb427 said, it has to be 75% of the total value of the vehicle to consider it a total loss.

It shouldn't be a total loss.

In all honesty, as much as we hate having our cars damaged, the damages you describe are rather cosmetic. It shouldn't affect the functionality and safety of the vehicle.

Be glad that you're safe and the car has a little boo-boo. It will get fixed.

I woudl say if you're worried about having a 'damaged/repaired' car, get it fix, sell it and buy something else.
