Any thoughts ?
My guess is that the damage costs are getting very near the threshold of totaled.

As I mentioned earlier, line up an independent adjuster for a second opinion.....just in case. Better to be prepared and safe, than sorry.

The longer it takes and the more time invested, the better the chance they won't total it, and you will will not be happy with the repaired car for long.

Get on it now.

i really don't think it's totalled.. i mean it's font and rear bumper.. one headlight.. and radiator.. some hoses... here and there.. and bending some of the engine bay area... besides that.. there's no much...

The VERDICT is that it is TOTALED.

I am not very happy although I know this is what is best.

For the record the damages were estimated at $29,000, which did not include a Lexus Dealership having to redo a significant amount of wiring related to the electrical relays, and the UNREPAIRABLE CHASSIS.... I do not have the report yet and will provide an update for future reference for people... but basically it was estimated that I was hit in excess of 40 mph in the rear which caused the rear to crumple into the center of the car. Additionally, the frame was bent on the driver side. Basically the chassis and frame were shredded in the rear....

I mourn the passing of my IS-350 ... dead at the age of 1, with 22,000 miles on her.

Thankfully, the car was very safe, even though the air bags did not deploy in that the entire passenger compartment stayed solid in the crash.

Thanks for everyone's support during this difficult time.

I'd really be interested to know what the insurance com. would want for this car.
This would be the perfect donor engine for my IS 250...should bolt right in.

A total is a very good thing here.
The car would never be the same and it would bug the schit out of you.
Don't accept the first offer from your insurance company.Try and get a higher settlement.Sometimes they'll give you a higher number.

Joeb427 - they didnt sell the car...it was in for service. i had them pull the car fax on it and it went from 3 different salvage yards then was titled about 1.5 years after i recked it. there was a sticker on the drivers door frame that indicated it was salvage title. car was in state farms hands after the reck. i was shocked to see the car. it shouldnt have been on the road and to see under the car where there was a baseball size weld to hold a portion of the front together!!!! i wish i still had pics to show what i mean.

back on to topic of the thread...

sad to see the car go as i did it once myself. be thankful you are okay and you can still get another IS to replace and be back on the road and enjoy in no time. post some pics when you have her replaced.

I didn't think Acura would do something like that.

You are probably much better off that they didn't. If you think you're injured now, you should see what you'd look like if that bag punched you in the face while you are essentially stopped. The airbags might have broken an arm or a wrist (VERY common airbag related injuries), so call yourself lucky.
