Built in Radar from factory
Does anyone have the radar detector installed from the dealer? If so does is work well? Now I have a beltronics and it has to be the best detector i've ever used. Just wondering...

Lexus does not offer a built-in radar detector as a either a factory option or as a dealer installed accessory. If your dealer is offering one, I suspect they want to sell and install an aftermarket product in your car.

Many states prohibit radar detectors, so Lexus isn't about to offer this sort of option from the factory. And it encourages speeding, which is not something a manufacturer wants to get involved in.

va is the only state that prohibits radar detectors in passenger cars, dc is not a state and canada has provinces. "facilitates" is a more appropriate word than "encourages." doesn't other car manufacturers offer radar detector as a factory option on some models?

Yup, it was offered to me from the guy that was taking care of my delivery of the car. This is when he offered me the clear bra packages,paint protection,wheel protection, tinted wheels, etc.

In your thread title, you referred to it as "Built in Radar from factory". As I said earlier, it's neither built in at the factory, nor is it a factory sanctioned accessory. For all intents and purposes, buying a K40 from the dealer is no different from buying it from a car stereo installer.

My 1995 sc400 has a built in radar detector and has (2) l.e.d's mounted on the cluster just below the speedo and tach. The on /off /volume switch is mounted next to the instrument panel light control switch. The detector has front of vehicle and rear detection. My brother in law owned this car from brand new and he tells me it was there when he bought it from lexus of palm beach.

VA sucks when it comes to radar detectors... my dad got pulled over by a state trooper who had a radar detector detector and gave him a $250 ticket!!!
but my family has a radar detector in every car we own! FTW!
