Default Window Tint and Navigation Systems

I looked at other threads and was unable to find anything that dealt with this issue so i'm going to ask and hope someone knows the answer. the navigation manual states not to tint the windows in ur vehicle if it has a navigation system because some tints have a metallic content that can cause your navigation system to function improperly. has anyone tinted their windows with or without a problem?

Someone's going to correct me if I'm wrong but some tints (I think the metallic) may interfere with your nav, but the other types (ceramic?) won't.

Do NOT get metallic tint. You have to get ceramic tint. I would recommend Formula One Pinnacle (ceramic).

If you get metallic tint, technically, your navigation will still function since the antenna inside your front dash. I know quite a few IS owners who have metallic tint and have no problems with their systems. It is always a safe bet to go with ceramic tint.

I have heard of this. But as far as our cars are concerned. I have ZERO problems with my car, I have Madico Onyx Metallic tint on all the windows. I also have Ceramic tint on the front windshield. My Navigation unit works flawlessly!

I did a lot of research on this and here is what I did with NO problems. The metallic tint is the best and I wanted it but was not willing to sacrifice my NAV or satellite operation. My tint guy did an awesome job and used the following:

13% Charcoal Metalized on all four door windows
18% Charcoal Carbon Non-Metalized for the back window

Even though they are different percentages, they match perfect and you can't tell. I have never had anyone that noticed the tints were different.

If your in AZ (we need tint here ), PM me ofr the contact info.

Similar to pocky, I have metallic tint on all my windows, including the windshield and have ZERO problems with the NAV. Not sure of the tint brand
