So wait, the stock oil isn't synthetic? Then why is it ever 5k miles instead of 3k miles?

I am pretty sure that stock oil isn't synthetic. At least this is the case with my 01 RX300 and with my current 2007 GS350. I have already switched over to synthetic on my RX300, but I'm gonna wait a little longer on my GS350.
