Default Tung pearl hard to blend?

Anyone have any experience with this? Dealer tells me it is hard to blend paint wise. It doesnt look like it would be hard compared to other paints.

I too have heard this. I guess it has to do with the metallic flake in the paint.

I think any paint with a pearl in it is more difficult to replicate... But thats why you like it right? Because its unique and good looking?

in what context did the dealer tell you this? Are you taking your car in for repair, or were they trying to dissuade you from buying tungsten pearl in order to sell you another color?

A truly good paint shop can pretty much match anything, it just takes more time and work. I have a tungsten pearl IS that got keyed and I took it to the best shop I knew in the area, that I had prior good experiences with. They resprayed the whole side of the car, blending into the other panels as they should, and I can't tell it was resprayed. They also did wonders on my friend's metallic blue G35 so don't accept that as an answer, it sounds like they just want to tell you that for some other motive (being lazy, or cheap, or selling you a different car etc.).

This may explain it.

I feel your pain. Stay on them and be firm about wanting a quality paint job/repair. If they're not willing to guarantee their work then ask if you can use a bodyshop you pick. If they can fix the clearcoat without messing with the paint maybe that's the way to go. Good luck.

It is to blend becasue it is a three stage paint job. It is painted like this base color which is white, metal flake, and last the clear coat.I owned a 350Z that was pearl white I wreaked the car when I got it back the paint job was very good but I could see that the paint was just off a little.

Thanks everyone. I sound like such a baby about all of this. Guess I am more upset that I even have to deal with this crap on a brand new car. I have time to have the best body shop in my area look it over. Thinking about taking this to big lexus house for discussion.

simple.

3 Stage Paint.

Stage 1: Base Coat

Stage 2: Pearl

Stage 3: Clear Coat

If any1 of those stage is not applied properly, paint will not match.

Let's use Glacier Frost Mica for example.

Stage 1: Base white

Stage 2: GFM Pearl

Stage 3: Clear Coat
