How Old Were You When You Got Your First Lexus?
#31
I got mine at 21, and I know that as soon as the convertible comes out.... I am going to trade up and get it. That's my dream car, is a convertible. I used to drive a truck. I want open air.

I got my IS at the age of 18.
So...18 and under...18 to 26...which to choose?
Anyways, I don't see why most of you make such a big fuss about teens with Lexus'.
Do you people want a pat on the back THAT badly?
Alright, good job. You have earned yourself a Lexus or more.
But what makes teens less qualified in owning Lexus'?
Lexus' are built safer and have more safety features than econoboxes.
And as long as the teens are careful on the road, they deserve anything.
Given that the parents have the financial ability, of course.
This is a capitalist nation. You have the money, you buy it.
No one is more deserving than others. It's all about how much bank you have.
So with all due respect...STOP THE WHINING...PLEASE!
Maybe you can start wishing for billionaire parents in the next life now.
P.S: I'm no Vanderbilt, and do NOT mean to come off as an elitist.

Like you I agree, they are safe cars and if you can afford to give them to your kids... more power to you. But as another poster said, driving is privilege, cars while common place ARE potentially dangerous machine and should be treated with respect.

I purchased my first Lexus last year at 41... I could have bought one before that but I always stuck with Toyota. This purchase I decided to look for something more luxury and ended up with a high end Toyota, LOL!

Meh.
Paid for my college loan in Cash and then financed my Lexus at 23 (considering the car was less and had a better intrest rate.. why not?!) I wonder when people say owned do they actually mean OWNED or financed all by themselves.
I don't plan on holding onto the car long enough to *own* it. It is awesome though that more and more of the younger crowd are able to afford high end cars, but then.. some of them still live with mommy and daddy. Hehe.

Truthfully, my original post was so long that I left out the fact that I wish that I could buy one for my son too. The safety factor makes me wish that I could. You're right SerKevin, I just wanted the young people who get them to realize that they are very lucky to have one at such a young age, especially if Mom and Dad bought it for them.
I always talk about the "invinsability factor" that young drivers go through until their first accident. Then I hope that that first accident is a minor one. We are working on getting the best deal on auto insurance right now (whatever that is with a 16 year old on your policy) and my son will soon head out on his own. I'll be concerned everytime he goes out, just like your parents probably are. Know that they worry from experience and that they were you back when. Whether it's a 12 year old car or new Lexus, they worry. I'll never grow up. My mom still calls to see that I made it home OK!
Take care if yourself, take care of the ride! (or vice versa)

my first car in 1993 was a 1993 tahoe..... i got alot of flak for that, honestly who cares if a teen has a nice car, they are fortunate enough to have parents who work thier butts off. I wont lie, i come from a pretty well off family and went to a school (back in 93) where the majority of the cars were 3000gt's 325's and tahoes. I do see ALOT of Is and 330's at the local highschool, i have seen a sl65 too. yeah, it seems pretentious but oh well.....
just be responsible and thankfull for what you have, that is all i ask.
but my first lexus was when i was 31 it was a gift to my wife, so i guess its technically hers? i have had cars that cost much more then the IS and im sure many of you have, some people use thier IS for thier daily driver or beater. and nobody hammers on them for driving the crap out of them.
honestly my favorite car is my daily driver. a super charged 1999 tahoe....... its big, fast loud and costs me 150 too 200 dollars a week in gas. oh well, im sure some of you will harp about me driving a gas guzzler.

Forgot i had a tl before thats still intact...? Its a shame that when others make a mistake sometimes the ones who suffer are not the ones who had made the mistake in the first place. This is reality though and im a very real person i can live with that. Remember something, everything happens for a reason and yes, some may be double, or even triple my age and have seen more then me, but i kno that is just how it is. I do not know what the intention of ur post was but ok.
