Default My week Old IS got hurt

I was visiting some friends in Delaware and parked my IS curbside, didn't think much about it since it was in this nice neighborhood and there's not much traffic except for people who lived there.

When I woke up the next morning, I immediately checked my car and it seemed to be OK, except for some bird poop on the hood. While I was cleaning it, this lady came up to me and asked me if it was my car. So I said yes, then she told "I'm sorry, I hit your car". I was like "your kidding right?". She pointed out the dent and there it was on the rear passenger side door.

She hit me with her brand new Jeep Sahara, she's my friends neighbor and she knocked at the door when it happened but nobody answered so she waited until someone came out.

As you can see the dent on the lower part and just below the door handle. Not very noticeable but it's there.

I got my estimate already and its gonna be $1900 for the whole thing. We have already setup with her insurance company and my car will be in the shop next week for 4 days.

Just thought I let you guys know, I feel better now.

Phil

It seems like there's no paint damage. Couldn't you get a "paintless" dent repair shop to fix it? I think they're cheaper. I know when I got a golf ball to my back door of my RX330 they fixed it and it looked like it never happened!

Oh my god... and you have a Glacier Frost Frost...

Tell her to pay the full price, it's hard to match our colour.

Wow, at least she was honest about it. Still - pretty sad when the car is only a week old.

Paintless dent repair won't work in a case like this. It's good for concentric dings and dents, but not applicable to long scratches or big dents.

You're very fortunate that she was honest with you, and actually has a conscience. Most people would just shrug and drive away these days.

I was worried about our GFM paint and how hard it is to match. Well they guaranteed 100% matching and lifetime paint match.

I'm just glad she was honest about this and took full responsibility.

Count yourself lucky that she was honest. My wife was driving her brand new 07 Ford and parked it to drop off my daughter at her school. When she came out, someone had taken out the passenger rear wheel well and door. No one said or saw anything, and it ended up costing us $500 for the insurance deductable on a $1400 bill. Most people really suck if they thing they can get away with something, but at least you got the one honest person.

Man that sucks, but from the pics it seems that the damage isn't that bad. A good body shop should be able make it look new again.

Like everyone said, that was really cool she was honest with you. For her doing that you should get some more quotes. Concentrate on body shops that are known for their good paint jobs. See if you can get a cheaper price to help her out, but I guess since it's her ins. agency paying it, then screw it.

I wish there were more people like that lady in this world.

Sorry about your new IS.

Finally, an honest person that stood to their mistake!!!

Make sure that you both take good care of one another. Let her pay for the damages, but don't make it the most costly repair either.

Be fair.

Good luck and I hope everything turns out well.

I definitely wanted to help her out and try to get a better quote without giving up quality of work. We went to a well known body shop in Delaware right after it happened just so she get an idea of how much it's going to be. We got a quote of 2200.

I got the $1900 quote from the Lexus dealer where I got my IS from. They're pretty good from what I heard and they guaranteed the paint match. I see if I can get another quote from a reputable body shop here in North Jersey. Any suggestions???

***And yeah she hit my car while backing out from her driveway.

Thanks all for the replies and suggestions.
