Routing power through firewall and installing sub in IS?
Hi, I want to move my inifinity basslink to my new car, but am curious where is the best place to get power into the cabin and back to the trunk. Pics would be great.
I also want to tap into the speaker wires...or does the Lexus Nav head unit have RCA out? I also have a Vaistech iPod setup if that matters
TIA

cmusic did an excellent writeup on here.
typically what i do to poke a hole through a firewall grommet is to take a LARGE zip tie (about 18" long and 3/8" wide), snip it with sharp nippers, at about a 60° angle. You basically create a plastic shank you could also use if you were in jail. anyways, tape the ziptie/shank to your power wire and use it to poke a hole in the side of the grommet.
you could also poke a hole in it with a sharp flathead screwdriver, but be very careful. the purpose of using the zip tie is so you don't damage any wires already getting routed through there. a metal poking object will easily damage wires.
once you are done with that, all of the interior bottom trim pieces pop up. use gentle, yet forceful pressure to pop each piece up.
the rear seat pretty much has a firewall around it! its sealed very well to isolate any noise coming from the trunk. however, there is an opening for wires a little bit up on the edge of the wheelwell. use it. you will have better luck routing a "pull wire" from within the trunk and then taping it to your power wire.
good luck and have a fun time!
