TPMS re-initialization needed after new tire install?
Ordered some tires from TireRack (yes, from the CL link). Tires arrived 2 days later at the installer, Tires Plus. Talked with the guy today. Nice fella. Just one question. He wants to charge me $17.50 to "reintialize the TMPS".........................HUH? Unless I'm changing sensors there shouldn't be anything to do, right? I mean, install the new tires and the sensors should sync right back up to the monitor, correct? I got a sneaky suspicion someone's trying to pull a fast one on me. Thoughts?

Yea, its in the manual... You might not have to do it if you are putting back in the same sensors that were in there before though... But check the manual, its easy to do and you do have to do it in some cases.

ummm...they are trying to shaft you. there is no $17.50 reintialization needed.
they install tires, fill them up to the recommended psi, and push the button on the left of the steering to intialize the psi you at the value you want. its a no brainer.
