I bought the Colgen full bra and it works great, especially for the love bugs here in Florida, and because I am driving the expressways to work and they are doing alot of construction. The bra has saved my car a number of times from getting chips and dings.

Yeah love bugs, that's what they are called, in about another 2 weeks, they will be all over the place in Florida. Drive a couple of miles and the front of your car will be covered with them.

Jesus these things are evil!!! Id move!

Lovebugs Hinder Motorists

Lovebugs are a considerable nuisance to motorists. They congregate in unbelievable numbers along highways and the insects spatter on the windshields and grills of moving trucks and automobiles. Windshields become covered with the fatty remains, and vision is obscured. During flights, the flies clog radiator fins causing cars to overheat. They also get into refrigeration equipment on trucks causing them to malfunction. The fatty tissue will cause pitting of the car's finish if it is not removed within a few days. Flies enter cars and sometimes drivers and passengers soil their clothing by sitting on lovebugs. They are also a considerable nuisance to fresh paint. The flies enter houses under construction in such numbers that carpenters refuse to work. Beekeepers complain because worker bees do not visit flowers that have been infested with the flies. A number of insecticides have been evaluated for effectiveness in controlling lovebug larvae and adults. Most of them kill lovebugs but are impractical because high populations of the insects occur over vast areas of the state. A vacuum cleaner can be used to remove adults from confined areas, such as in buildings and vehicles.

i really don't want to go the clear bra route. too expensive and i don't like the look. i was asking about the bug shields they can put on your hood where you open it and it causes the air to flow up over to keep bugs and rocks off the car. do they work and does anyone have one???

I had the bug shield on the Camry I had and it didn't protect the bumper agaisnt rocks or love bugs. all it did was protect a little of the hood were it covered.

Those things are pretty bad in Texas. I drove from Austin to Houston last year and had to stop twice to clean the windshield and lights. They are gross. You can't ever use your windshield wipers! I saw carspulled over because they couldn't see out of the windshield.
I was thinking about using the 3M blue tape this year. I'll cover the bumper, mirrors and part of the hood. I takes a good hour or two the clean them off.

This is a cool microscopic picture of a gnat crushed by a windshield. It was taken by some German photographer, Volker Steger.

Go paint your IS Desert Sage Metallic, and get black rims for the brake dust .
