Default Fellow IS250 owners, don't you wish they was a bit more power under there?

I don't know about the rest of you, but after reading those road and track reports, I was slightly angry. Don't you agree that maybe they could of thrown in some more horses in that engine? Or do you think I should of just got the IS350, Haha. Lemme know..

I don't race or speed and neither do 95% of the people buying IS250's (most of which aren't on the forums). IMO the majority of IS drivers, myself included, wouldn't even notice the extra horses. I also enjoy my gas mileage so i dont "wish there was a bit more power" under the hood. The IS350 is available for the car enthusiasts.

That being said, Lexus does fall a little short on HP compared to other cars in it's class, so it wouldn't hurt.

Being this is my first Lexus, I would love the extra HP but I wouldn't love the less MPG. Soooo, if I could do it all over again, I would get the is250 still..

I just went and test drove both the 250 and 350... with every expectation that I didn't need to spliurge on the 350 and that I'd be happy with the 250. I must say that I was throughouly disappointed with the 250... and have decided to get a 350 (even if that means waiting a couple of extra months to wait and save up more).

Personally, I think the 250 is SERIOUSLY underpowered.

The Is250 has plenty of power IMO for a good reliable everyday driver. Mine will do 0-60 in 7.2 on a regular basis and has done 15.2 in the quarter. Now when put against the IS350 then yes it may seem as if it is seriously underpowered, but hell when you put the 350 against my 68 Camaro the 350 seems like a turd. I agree that Lexus should have given the 250 about 30 more ponies just to keep up with the entry level BMW but all in all it stacks up very well against all the other MFGs base entries in its class. YMMV

Well its not like the IS250 is slow or anything. For me though, after driving the IS300 for 6+ years spending the next 6 with almost the same HP wasn’t something I wanted. To be honest I really only wanted about another 50-60HP. That would likely be enough for you as well ,,,,,, some mods will get you that!

I just got out of a gs300 with some engine work and exhaust, it wasnt as fast as the gs430 but it definatly did what I needed it to do. I am loving my IS250 so far, for someone who drives back and forth from work 5 days a week in rush hour traffic I dont need the extra horse power that the 350 has to offer...and definatly didnt want to spend even more money on gas if I wasnt going to get to benefit from the power of the car other than on the weekends....dont forget more money for speed tickets also haha.

I guess the reason why I feel it is so underpowered is because I currently drive an SUV that has 310 HP and can do a 0-60 in 8 seconds. I just cannot justify getting a new car that is CONSIDERABLY less weight but does a 0 - 60 in the same time.

I brought my wife an 2007 IS 350 in October of last year....we upgraded from the 2006 IS 250 and I must say there's a HUGH difference in power. We're talking about 204 horses (250) vs 306 (IS 350) that's a 102 bhp difference! The IS 250 is a nice car but for the extra power you might as well get the IS 350 but it just depends upon your needs. I'm a big stigler for power and speed....it just makes my driving experience so much more fun and exciting!

honestly, i prefer the lower amount of power. it keeps me from getting as many tickets. Also, like others have said, the 27 average MPG is great. Had they put a bigger engine in there, we would be getting 23 at best.

have you checked Lexus' site comparison between the 350 against the 250AWD? it's like 1mpg city and no difference in highway...the 350 actually has better gas mileage than the 250RWD Manual. the 250 auto gives a 4/4mpg advantage but IMO that's not enough of a tradeoff for 100 extra horses...the price difference is, but definitely not gas mileage, that's a moot point
