Default Hello Everyone - Couple questions about the 350 from a new member

I am curently working on selling my Audi and looking to get into an IS 350. My dealer told me during a test drive yesterday that the ML sound system is rare and very hard to find. Is this true, or is it just because none of the 350s allocated to that dealer in the near future have it.

Am I correct that I should be looking between 3K and 4K below MSRP on a nav 350?

I read that the Mark Levinson system allows you to play video DVDs, does this translate into saying you can play .... DVD movies on your nav screen? (i thought that was illegal)

As a side note - I hate dealers. My dealer 2 miles from my house tells me that I can get a great deal on an IS 250, but I would only get about 1K of invoice on a 350. Meanwhile, the newport dealer about 30 miles away says I would get the same deal on a 250 or 350 (about 3K off).

Thanks - hope to be shootin the ish with you all soon about how much i love my IS

I've never seen a 350 at my dealer. They can't keep them on the lot. I am currently waiting for a Levinson equipped 350 and am not expecting them to move very far off of msrp. There are tons of 250s but the 350 seems to be in very low production and the carsdirect guy told me that west coast dealers are getting msrp for the IS350.

The Levinson DVD system allows movies to be viewed while the car is in park and emergency brake on (but there is a hack to enable dvd viewing while not in park).

The availability of the ML system depends on the region. Here in the Northeast, they don't allocate them -- they are all special order. That's why I, and others, special ordered our cars and just waited the 3 - 4 months.

Yes, I think you should be looking for between 3k and 4k off of MSRP.

Yes, the ML system allows for DVD video playback. However, the video is disabled when the emergency brake is released. Of course, you can do what many have done and "hack" the system (search the forum) which involves cutting a few wires to re-enable that functionality.

Sounds like you should be doing business with the Newport dealer...

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies, my dealer has 1 350 without nav and are getting a few more 350s in this month. The newport dealer has 2 350s and there are 3 other dealers in san diego, let alone all of L.A....

There are options, so I will just see if any of them have the ML system, and if i can budge them on the price.

Unfortunately, I have to wait in the starting blocks until my TT is sold.

when I bought my IS back in May of last year I had to wait for a month for one with ML but when my sister bought her IS in Sept of last year they had a loaded one sitting on the lot. I think the ML option is easier to find now since the IS been out for over a year already.

maybe consider expanding your search radius? there are so many lexus dealers in southern california, one of them has to have the car you're looking for, if not at least one that you might be interested in...

ML is quite easy to get on a 350 down here in Houston.

I agree with RamShakleZ. I was at the dealership yesterday gettin my 15K service and they had a lot full of em. I was wondering around looking at cars while mine was getting serviced.
