I really don't understand why people are cheaping out on 15-20 CENTS per gallon. Thats $3 a tank!!(or less!). You are going to risk engine damage for 3 bucks?!

Use what is recommended for the car. it says 91 inside your fuel door.

... Its 3 bucks... Damn

Honestly it doesnt hurt to put out a couple more dollars.

Here is a video for you to judge. This video is about performance though, not longevity.

With regards to longevity, i believe not much of a difference, but you have to take every measure to ensure your car will last.

we used to have 92 in CA but now we moved down to 91.

In central NJ, the differential between regular and premium at most stations is 40 cents.

I pay it, but it's more like $6/tank, which works out to around $375/year for the amount of driving I do.

$375 is the difference between the cost of premium and regular over the course of the year, not how much he pays for gas.

At the $0.40 difference in NJ (here in CA it's only $0.20), that's over 900 gallons a year. So closer to $300/month in gas, depending on fuel prices.

Gas prices in the bay tend to suck, unless your willing to drive out of the way for premium thats cheaper than the avg regular grade price.

Hey folks...it comes down to where you want to put your money. Pay now at the pump or pay later when the engine needs "major" repairs. I moved from Atlanta, where the difference between 87 and 91 octane was 30-40 cents per gal, to virginia where the difference is 65-80 cents per gal. That just doubled. I do not mind putting I the higher octane, if the engine will perform better,; I DO MIND being taken advantage of at the pump. Can someone explain why the difference between grades have to fluxuate so much?
