Default How bad is the "rear seat" room, really?

Since everyone seems to have the same "con" on the review sites that the rear seats are small, what is everyones "real" impression here?

I am 6'-1" so whomever is sitting behind me may get squished

Just curious.

Default Rear Parcel Shelf

I’m 6’2” and there is no way anyone could sit behind me, short of having legs removable at the knees. My wife is 5’11” and, although she likes to sit fairly close to the steering wheel, only small kids would fit behind her. The rear set is useful only as a parcel shelf, at least for us.

for me it's not an issue b/c before i ever looked into the 2IS i was planning on a getting g35 coupe.. so i didnt value the rear leg room much to begin with.. but, since i've had my car ive taken 2 rear seat passengers around town several different times.. particularly when im at work and decide to go to lunch w/ some coworkers.. it's really not that bad back there unless everyone in the car is over 6'. then again i'd say 90% of the time im driving my car it's just me or one front seat passenger.. note: the back middle seat has zero leg room bc of the driveshaft hump.

the las time i drove the car i had to put my seat all the way to the back and im 6'1. there is no way anyone could sit behind me. imo the only way someone can sit in the backseat is if the person driving id very very short.

Not to "say" they weren't cramped, but i've had nobody "complain" about the "rear seat" yet. I am a short driver, 5'6" so there is a decent amount of space behind me. I had a 6'1" person in the front seat, and a 5'11" guy behind him, and "again"...no complaints.

the way i "look" at it, if you dont have a "family"...who "cares" about the "back seat". you are "buying" it for you...not your "passengers". "Family "is a different story!

I would strongly recommend you go to your nearest Lexus dealership and sit in one!

It's definitely not good IMHO. With 2 6' up front, my g/f (5'6) will fit in the rear seat without issue. I don't think another person any taller than that would be that comfortable.

The rear seat issue isn't an issue for me because I've had people in the back seat of my car no more than an handful of times in the last 5 years.

Default You have to try it out...

Even if you're 6'1", you may still have lots of room in the back depending on how you sit (with extended or flexed knees, and sitting upright or leaning back).

There are a few 6'+ people that sit comfortably in the seat, and still have plenty of room in the back. There are a few people that are about 5'6" and sit uncomfortably, with no room in the back.

Simply put, the rear seat is small because it cannot accommodate everyone. However, it can accommodate many. Will it accommodate you? You have to try it out and see...

Yes the room is tight. But I'm 5'10" and am always able to put people behind me. I am still comfortable to drive and the people in the back are okay. I have fit myself driving, a 6'2", a 6'0 and a 5'10" in my car w/o huge problems.

I find is strange in that not only there are less leg room, the way that the car is structured the rear interior sort of skewed towards the front. You sit at the back and the door handle would be hitting your knees, if you adjust and move to the centre abit, you'll find yourself sitting in the middle of the seat.

I'm careless about rear seat. It's nothing to worry about.
