Default GPS antenna location

does any one kno where the antenna is located. for the past couple of weeks ive been havin problems w my nav(being in a compleaty diffenrent state when im home or drivng in the ocean) im thinking it is the metalic tint in my back window but its been tinted since i got the car a year ago and worked fine untill a coulple of montha ago then worked again and now for about a month it hasnt worked at all.

Slightly right of center in the dash just under the windshield (see below). There are a couple of threads about nav having this issue, and there is a TSB for the nav to correct it which updates the nav firmware but not the maps. There is also a map update with updated firmware, but you'll have to pay for it.

bringing it back from the dead!!!...anyone know what the fix is??? mine is doing same as OP

Did you make sure it's in the right region.... Hit Menu-Select Region -Change.
You can also try calibrating it with Menu-Setup and calibration is on the 3rd screen

Region setting only affects destination and point-of-interest searching.

Calibration should not be needed if your GPS is getting a lock. If it isn't, calibration will only be a temporary fix.

Look for the word "GPS" under the map scale indicator. If it doesn't appear within a few minutes of starting the car, then your nav is not getting a lock and is just using the steering angle and speed sensor to calculate position on the map.

But, with dead reckoning, if you weren't getting a GPS signal, your location shouldn't be THAT far off.

You might opt for 2 day paid subscription to Toyota's TIS site and read the tech troubleshooting tips. It will also have all the schematics and all that too.
