would you trust a dealer with new wheels?
Now that I lost faith in my dealer to fix a small problem, I wonder if I should take my wheels somewhere else to get installed and aligned. I guess if they screw up they can just reorder.

I don't trust the dealership. My last car, a Nissan screwed up my aftermarket wheels by using a air lugnut gun. The bit was too shallow and marked up the holes with dents. After fighting with them for a few weeks, they agreed to pay for two of the four rims. Which was fine by me. Now they make me sign a paper when I go in that they hold no responsibility for removing the rims.

I only let Lexus work on my wheels/tires... That way if they break something they can replace it. I'm always afraid somebody else will damage the TPMS and not take resonsibility.

When I picked up my 350 one of my G-Spyders was scraped.. They ordered a new one per the purchase agreement. When it arrived they put it on free of charge etc etc, but chipped the outer edge with the machine that seats the tire on the wheel. I once again made them order a replacement, now I have a special remark on my service history that says take extra care not to damage wheels.. I still inspect them everytime I leave any car wash or dealer.. If it's a OEM wheel use the dealer because they will be responsible for damages

I'm just glad that I have a good relationship with my service advisor. I had tirerack ship my tires directly to him and I brought my volks in. He mounted, balanced, and put the new shoes on without a hitch.
Not one scratch anywhere (as he knows how **** I am) and he specifically had his tech tighten and torque the lugs by hand. Also had him do the alignment and there were no marks from that either.
I would pretty much trust him to do anything on the car.
Wherever you go, I would get them to guarantee that they will not damage your wheels.

I don't even let the dealer wash mine when I take it in for service because I'm afraid they'll scratch the wheels running it through their automatic car wash. They're so haphazard, careless and in a hurry, and they don't even do a good job of that simple task (swirl marks, poor job of cleaning the lower areas, etc.).
Usually a local place that specializes in custom wheels & tires will take extra caution during mounting & installation, so it may be worth it to pay a little extra for their service. I had my aftermarket wheels put on at Discount Tire, and they did a fine job, but I did ask them to be extra careful and watched them like a hawk while they did it.

The topic of this thread should be "Would you trust a dealer?"
The answer is "NO"
That being said, if it's an OEM part, like ISP Mode, or G-Spider wheels, I'd recommend taking it to the dealer since they will obviously replace it 100% free of charge if they do anything wrong.
That being said, I still don't trust them, but who cares if they will keep replacing it till it's done right?
That being said, I personally, take it to a local tire shop that I know will do the job 100% correct and not damage it... But for most people, go to the dealer for Lexus parts installation...
