Lightbulb Had JL Audio subwoofer and amplified installed today - PICS

Took the car to Myer-Emco today... They spent about 5-6 hours and did a great job... Very knowledgeable installer... They installed my JL Audio 10W6V2 Subwoofer and 250/1 amp... They also disconnected and physically removed the factory sub... The amp was mounted on a custom rack under the rear deck... It's not even visible when you open the trunk, you need to lean into the trunk to see it... The subwoofer sits in the back corner of the trunk taking up barely any room... All in all, a very nice job... Power was run from the battery along the passenger side of the vehicle... Remote turn on was taken from the rear driver side passenger area...

Here are a few pics, for full details, check my website in my sig...

What did you used to tap to OEM amp? JL Cleansweep or hi/low? Do you have pictures? What is the next mod?

Just tapped into the signal output to the factory sub...

No converter, just ran RCA wires directly to the amp...

No pictures, but I could get in there and take some...

No "next" mod planned... That was the last one on my list... Any suggestions?

Night and day difference... Stock ML system had almost no bass... This system is as much bass as you could want... I have the gain at almost zero...

I think I may stick with the ISP Mode wheels

Subs/speaker blow due to clipping from amp. Usually lack of true power. Get a good amp and double the max input power of your sub/speakers. You will not use all the power at all times, but the split second your sub/speakers needs it, it is there. No clipping!

I've never had any of my JL Audio speakers blow. I've had different experience with many of them from the 10W6 to the 10W0 yes the lowest priced speaker jl makes. I had 3 of them in my IS300 with a JL Audio 500 and i hit 143 on SPL. I could have gone higher than 143 but it was at a car show and i had been playing them all day long. I have 2 10W3V2 right now and they rock my car. I'm in the process of installing 1 10W7 with the same amp i have now. I like the set up you have there, less space consuming. That is what i'm looking for now. My wife just had our baby and now i have to make room for the stroller.

Ya, I told them that their job was to make it "as stealth and stock/oem looking as possible"... When it comes to mods on my car, I always go for stealth/oem look... I'm boring like that

Just tapped into the signal output to the stock sub? You meant the stock sub has a built-in amp?

BTW, great setup, that's exactly how I want my setup, I just want a little more bass.

There must be some kind of converter in between the high level signal to the old sub to the amp. The amp will not be able to handle a high level, powered signal. I think what Dj Amtrax was asking was how do you have the powered sub signal down-converted to a low level signal so that the amp can accept the signal?
