If you read his post it says at the bottom that it's a manual coupe.

Like you said 10000+ for the BMW is a real premium. How is the interior in the BMW? I was not too happy with the 330i vs the IS350. I liked the feel of the IS interior better. What is your thoughts on this?

I had one of those Gtech's back in high school, and man did I have fun with it. Granted it was always off by .1-.2 seconds off my real 1/4 time, it was a fun little gadget.

I'm really liking the new Bimmers that's been coming out. Don't get me wrong, I love my 350, but i I had known about the 335, I probably would have waited for it.

I'm a sucker for turbo cars; I bet with a couple of simple boltons that car will run deep into the 12's with no problem.

I prefer the BMW interior over the IS350. Actually over any car out there. My particular combination is the Space Grey exterior (coupe only) and the Coral Red/Dakota interior (essentially red leather seats and door inserts and the rest is black, looks stunning). The seats, in my opinion, are 2nd to none. The IS350 seats aren't bad, they're actually quite nice, but there's something about the BMW seat and the multi-adjustments, plus the lower cushion front pulls in and out which is helpful when you're taller. You can raise the front cushion as high as you want, and lower the back as far as you want. I'm 6'3" so the comfort is much greater in the 335. The stering wheels is also the best I've ever held. 2nd place would go to the new GTi with the flat bottom (haven't driven that car but the wheel is sweet).

I'd pick the 335 in most every category over the IS350 that I can think of. But really we're talking about a close matchup of points. If the BMW is "my" 10 out of 10, the IS350 is a very close 2nd. Again, factor in the roughly $10,000 difference and many people would never chose the 335, and I can't say I'd blame them. That gap in price may be less depending on your Dealers though.

As for the coupe vs. sedan... All 335's are now 335i (they dropped the "C" for coupe). It's simply called the 335i Coupe now.

Hmm, Space Gray with Coral Red? That's the 6spd demo car all the dealers are getting. I hope yours wasn't abused, because I sure beat the hell outta the Crevier 6spd demo.

Without getting into the pros/cons of each... I did get to GTech the 335i today.

IS350:
First off, the IS350 was super quick compared to most cars I've done. Quicker than my Magnum SRT-8 for example. Our sold '06 330i auto ran a 6.6 best. The IS ran a best of a 5.5 0-60 with an average being around 5.6.

335i:
Also tested with 100 miles on the clock (yes, I'm mean), I hit a best of 4.8 seconds to 60. Bogging off the line would hit around 5.1 to 5.2 seconds. Too much tire spin (too high rpm launch) would hit around 5.2 to 5.3. The average runs just taking it easy were in the 5.0 to 5.1 range. On the 4.8 run I could feel right off the bad that I had the perfect launch as the revs matched the slight tire spin and fadded off just before shifting into 2nd gear. I did hit a 4.9 just after.

Sorry I didn't get to do any 1/4 mile times with either car.

I'm loving the new 335i since it's a different animal than our IS350. A coupe and a manual don't really make this a total apples/apples comparison; neither does the "real" price. But for $10,000 less I'd say the IS is on hell-of-a car! (I bought the IS at Invoice and the BMW was $1,000 off MSRP).

I'll touch base again when I decide to bite the bullet and get the Vishnu Program/Exhaust for the 335i!
Thanks for the write up. You sir are a luck bastard!
Most ppl on the CL site like both the BMW 335 and the IS350 and wish we could have both cars like you. Average Joe's like me won't be able to afford both the IS350 and a BMW 335 as a second car so we have to make a compromise. The practical side of me say IS350 all the way and save the $$$, but few people can resist the great driving enjoyment you get when you get behind the wheel of a BMW 3. If I had it my way, I get the IS350, BMW 335 and throw in a Audi S4. <---I guess I'll keep dreaming!

How 'bout this for a dream... Our 3rd car is a Toyota Sienna Van!!!

As for the car being a demo, no, it wasn't. I bought it with 3 or 4 miles on it. And believe me when I say no one can abuse a car like me right out of the gate!
