Default How to mount the Front license plate mounting bracket on?

When I picked up my new IS from the dealer, I told them not to drill the hole on my front bumper, because I did not want to put the license plate in the front. However, one of my friends got pulled over the other night because of it, so I feel like I should put it on as well.
How do I mount the bracket for the license plate on the bumper?
I think there are marks on them, which are showing where the two screws should be going into to hold the bracket. but, my question is.. do I just drill it into the holes with the screw on the drill?
I think that's what I should do, but just want to make sure with someone who has done it. (don't want to add another hole by mistake. )

The screws are drilled directly into the bumper, just use the black plate holder as a guide to be sure you get them the right space apart.

Default Fabricate something else

If I could do it again I would not let the dealer drill the holes just because they are really ugly and a really poor solution. I would investigate fabricating some sort of bracket to mount the standard Lexus Black plate frame to...that way you can take it off and you don't have the ugly holes

I have no idea how to make the bracket but I would think there must be some way to do ti

I heard that there is some kinda magnetic license plate bracket, that will stay on the bumper without drilling involved. Not sure where to get one though..

you can use 3M tape and tape it to the bumper.

I agree with this suggestion. 3M tape is super strong (Ever try taking off your emblems with sheer force of your hands?) Do not mar your bumper with holes drilled in. You might want to try putting your license plate in the front window if you are sweatin the po po. For myself, I do not have a front plate and do not have holes drilled into my bumper. If I do get a ticket, I will pay it and still keep the front plate off. It is way cleaner looking. But that is just me.

Hmm... 3M tape.. Would that be strong enough to make it stable, not flying away on HWY?
I was going to leave it on the windshield, but my friend got a ticket by doing so, therefore, I don't want to take a risk of getting a ticket.
Yeah, paying for a ticket isn't issue, but I'm a beer lover and I often drive after 2-3 cans of beer. I don't wanna involve in a drama.. Too old for that.

I think a couple(2,3,or 4)strips of 3m tape would do the trick its super strong for us hole haters (in the bumper that is)

NOw, I should decide on getting a magnetic license plate holder, which is used by the dealer, the one they put on their new cars for test drive purposes v.s. 3M tape to put it on...
hmm....

someone on here turned the holder thing upside down and screwed it in on the bottom mesh grill using lug nuts. smart idea without having to drill into the bumper. there was a guide to do it but too lazy to search but i bet someone will eventually post it here.

What I will do is Ill use an L brackets and drill underneath the bumber opening, in the " mouth " of the bumber and there will be my plate. So no holes in front of the bumber, just underneath in the opening. Im just thinking if it wont obstruct the airflow onto the radiator. My friend did this in his QX4 and looks great. Our opening is big enough to use the same way.

regards, Bart.

You can try to zip tie it to the lower grille if you are worrying about it blowing away in the wind from the 3M tape idea.
