Default New car buyer, question about additional charges.

As stated in the heading, I'm new to the new car buying scene. Let say if you were able to walk away with paying invoice. Will you need to add destination charge along with the invoice price you are paying? I know the invoice for dealers is a maybe 200-300 higher than those on websites such as www.edmunds.com.

No you don't. The invoice price already includes destination. All you have to pay are taxes, plates, inspection, doc fee (no more than $400 depending on state) and tire recycling fee.

I think there is confusion as to what the definition of "invoice" price is, mainly because of how sites like KBB, Edmunds, etc. break the pricing down down (which I like, BTW). If I were to buy a base vehicle with no options or accessories, according to KBB I would be paying 31420 + 715 (vehicle + destination fee) = 32135. 32135 is what I would consider the "invoice" price. The only other fees I can think of are advertising fees, TT&L, and documentation fees. You might be able to waive the advertising fees though.

That's correct. Just like you get the MSRP on a vehicle sticker insluding all options and destination included, same with the invoice, but it shows how much each of these things costs the dealership. The destitnation cost is the only thing that the dealership doesn't make profit on. Everything else like car, and options the dealerships make money on. That's why it's a little easier to negotiate a better discount on a fully loaded car than a base one.

Destination is included. I'd go w/the idea of 500-1000 over invoice on a new 350 or 250. Edmunds.com should be correct as long as your zip code is put in and your MSRP is EXACT. Good Luck!
