Yes, I noticed this subsequent to the 6.1 nav disc installation. Is it possible the new nav firmware would change this?

OK, I will add a little more confusion in here.

I was having a problem with my nav losing location and Lexus indicated that the fix would be a new nav disk. I have a 2006 IS350 which came with the 5.1 disk originally. Well the updated disk they gave me was ALSO a 5.1 version, but now I no longer have my nav override screens!

No Nav override:
Version 6.1
Version 5.1 (updated)

Nav override:
Version 5.1 (original)

My question is, how do you find out the firmware version?

I would like to know if Lexus has updated the firmware on the NEW 5.1 disks, which is why there is no more override screens on mine.

Can you take a picture of the updated V5.1 disc for me? Thanks.

To find firmware version:

Press the Display hard button.
Two wide bands will appear on the display, top and bottom.
Tap below the top band on the left side and above the bottom band
on the left side, six times alternating top to bottom.
The System Check menu will appear.
Wait 5 seconds for the screen to update the test categories.
Press the Menu button on the top right.
Press the Navigation Check button on the next screen.
Press the Parts Information button.
Both the firmware revision and Data version will be displayed.
To exit the System Check menus, press and hold the hard
display button for 5 seconds.

FWIW, one thing I did notice is that the loading.kwi file on the 6.1 disk is significantly larger than on the 5.1 disk. It would be interesting to see if the file size of that file is the same between the 6.1 disk and the 5.1 (updated) disk.

I will do the following this weekend:

1. Take a picture of the disk
2. Check the firmware version
3. Get some information on the loading.kwi file

I will keep everyone updated.

OK, in reference to what I posted above. I have checked the firmware version for my 5.1 (updated) Nav disk.

Firmware version: 1650

Disk Version: 5.03.17

As I suspected... It's actually the exact OPPOSITE of our hacked DVD :-) They have OLD map data with newer no-override firmware... lol...

Did you take a pic of the disc?

1. I was having the navigation problems as described earlier and this was immediately resolved with the updated firmware. Previously, my GPS was seeing 1-3 satellites but locking on to none of them. With putting in the new disk with the new firmware, the GPS immediately found 9 satellites and locked on to 7 of them. This wouldn't be obvious unless one was having this problem like I was.

2nd, the HVAC ventilate/recirculate/auto setting now persists after turning off the car. Has anyone else noticed this? It always frustrated me that this wouldn't stay at the same setting when turning the car back on. However, with the new firmware, it does keep the setting.
#1 Recently started to experience the same thing.
#2 Was driving me nuts!

Because the TSB disc is free under warranty so it just has the fixes in it and they want us to purchase the new disc with the updated firmware and new map data

Exactly! I experienced all of these issues which were resolved with the updated firmware from v5.1 as well as with v6.1.

My dealership originally replaced my v5.1 (w/Nav hack) with an updated v5.1 (w/o Nav hack) and later gave me a free upgrade to v6.1!!

Good luck!

I was just beginning to get concerned with my NAV losing position, and I'm glad Lexus is addressing the issue, but I do not want to lose the override... if anyone who has gotten the updated v5.1 is able to achieve the override, please post!
