Default How does your RWD drive on snow?

Hello.
I'm currently looking for a new IS250 RWD 6spd manual, but it's super hard to locate one in Midwest area. Is it because it's too slippery or dangerous to be driven on snow? or just less popular in the Midwest area? I think it's taking the same amount of risk as the automatic RWD. Anyone can share ideas?
I don't know if finding no RWD 6spd here means that it's too danagerous/not suggested to be driven in the snowy land or not.
Those who currently have RWD IS250, is it too slippery during the winter time?
Sorry, if this sounds a dumb question.

If you are going to drive RWD in the snow, RWD on regular tires can be a problem. RWD on Snow tires is fine. We have gone a winter in 2005 and no issues were reported.

Manual IS 250s are rare in large cities so it will be rarer in the midwest. Lexus may soon discontinue due to low demand.
Good luck

There are TONS of posts on here already on this subject with many people posting their experiences before and after snow tires. I suggest a quick search in the 2IS forum and you'll be inundated with information.

thanks.. search function is great, but it's probably too great that it brings out too many of un-wanted posts out. It takes forever to find what I wanted.

my dealer told me they only made 35 6spd is250 from west virginia-up (northeast region)... Not sure if thats true, but if it is, it shows you how rare it really is. I live in mass, and without question Im putting snow tires on....

I think it's hard to find a manual 250 everywhere. Don't let that stop you from putting the effort into finding one, though. How soon are you looking to buy?

I wouldn't be concerned about driving the car in the winter. You will need snow tires, though. And the traction control system is so intrusive, that there's very little chance that you'll ever experience wheel slippage.

Would you consider one with 5400 miles on it?

Just tried to drive my IS250 RWD on snow for the first time... terrible. Absolutely terrible. I can't even get out of my driveway. As soon as the snow lets up, I'm going to get some snow tires.

Question is why did your 350 experience no problems on snow than a 250 RWD? Could the 350's VDIM helped? Probably the snow condition you drove on was just easier (traction wise) than what others encountered.

I saw tons of IS250's at the Highland Park Lexus on Saturday. Don't know if they had any manuals though.

I had a bad experience one time with my GS430 never again. The IS350 is just too light in the back even if you have snowtires imo. Anyways why would you even think about gettin salt all over her .

What tires were you running up there?

A good set of winter tires and a couple of bags of sand in the trunk and you'll be fine.
