ARC Induction Box Installed (now updated with dyno results (post 33)!)

hmmm that's cool, but not impressive enough for me to get one. I wonder when we'll finally get an intake with decent gains...something like the SRT intake for the 2nd Gen GS.

Got my car dynoed today. The results were pretty much what I expected, not much gain, but far more efficient. The car only gained about 1-3HP and torque from 3-6k but after 6k it continued climbing where as the stock airbox dropped off. When the car reached redline it was making about 9 more HP than the stock airbox. Torque and horsepower curves were much smoother with the ARC than stock.
So without the ARC: 264HP 234TQ
With ARC: 267HP 238TQ
Before people start to flame me for spending $800 on such a small HP gain, remeber, this is not a full intake it's just an airbox. So, I would guess with the addition of a smoother intake tube another 3-5 HP/TQ wouldn't be out of the question

$800 for an aluminum box and piece of red foam? What is it about this plain metal box that makes it "premium"?

My edited version of your quote above gets the exact same message across without the name calling. The moderators are watching the IS forums closely because there have been a lot of negative posting toward others. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing and getting your point across, just don't make it personal.

Would you please post a bit more info about the dyno results? How many runs did you do with each intake? Was the ambient temperagure about the same for each test? Were all the runs fairly consistent for each test?
I ask because I recently did 7 consecutive runs over a 1 hour period with my IS, and saw more than a 3 rwhp variation. Those variations really should be factored out by controlling variables and averaging the results.
I would also be interested in seeing the plots from the dyno, since peak numbers aren't nearly as important as the area under the curve.

ARC is one of the top aftermarket product companies in Japan. If ff_ actually knew anything about the product or ARC, besides from pictures he's seen on the internet...then we can talk. Otherwise we're going to have to edit all your posts. ha
