^right. Did that. It's back. I want to know if there is anyone who has had the fix done and had the problem return.

If they did end up buying it back or offering a smoking trade, I'd probably get an IS-F. If there is no fix and they don't make a stellar offer in compromise, I'll look at a C63 AMG.

I am experiencing the VVTI problem also for about 3 months now. I have to drive my car and I'll hear the noise at restart after turning off the car for about half an hour or 45 minutes. And it only happens when the weather is cool. I never hear the noise at cold start up. I took my car in a couple of times but unfortunately, they can't replicate the problem so I was denied the fix so far.

Update!
So Lexus has heard the same noise, and they are optimistic that changing the sprockets again will solve it. I hope so. I've also heard a nasty rumor the TSIB sprockets are still having issues, but I haven't been able to trace that rumor to a solid source.
I'm going to see what happens next. The car won't be ready for a couple of days, so I'm in an ES350 until then. Completely different world from a car perspective. I am hopeful, but not too optimistic.

I took my car to Jim Faulk Lexus yesterday and to my surprise they are ordering the parts and doing the repairs for the noise. I'm glad I didn't have to take it in a third time for a dealer to fix this.
On the other hand they they want to charge me about 2 g's for 2 tires, a rim, and an alignment. I managed to find a new rim for $225, 2 tires for $80 each and I just got an alignment a couple months ago.

The bad news - they've validated the correct parts were installed (there was some possible doubt as to whether they installed the 250 or 350 TSIB parts) and they've scheduled the repair - parts not available until Monday (was hoping to be in my IS for my birthday - oh well, I'll have to drive the Supra).
The good news - they will complete the install, and check the following morning to ensure the noise is gone. Not sure what will happen if it persists. They're assuming the original TSIB parts were defective, and the new sprockets will solve the problem. I'll keep this thread updated with the results.

Mine is in at the dealer for this problem. I showed up, told him the issue, referenced the TSB and they ordered the parts to fix it. hopefully I'll have the car back by Monday. If not, I'll keep kickin the crap out of my IS250 loaner car.

just took my car to the dealer for 30k mile tune up and i told about crank noise and sunroof rattle. They fix the sunroof rattle but they didn't find/hear the crank noise so that wasn't fix. But now that i have the tsb ref, i will show them that and they will fix it. thanks guys and i will update later.
