The E90 325i puts out more power, and weighs less. I know that this equates to faster 0-60 times, but have never compared the 1/4 mile times for the two cars.
I have them both in my family. But Lex feels bit more powerful. I`don`t know Lex just going so easily to 60mph. And BMW like it`s going to expload.
I think what you're noticing is the difference between a car that's normal, and a car that's designed to completely shield the driver from every possible noise and vibration. You probably wouldn't like driving an S2000 or Elise.
Ohh now. Thats ain`t right. I like BMW very much for what they are. Just now i`m on Lex, and this is how i feel what is going on on the road with the car.

Great drag numbers, all other things being equal, are all about gear ratios. BMW prides itself on it's performance numbers. Therefore perhaps someone with more time on their hands than I could look up the rear end gear ratios for the IS250 and 325i. My guess is the bimmer's will be lower (higher number) than the Lexus. I'll also make a guess and say if you compare the RPMs at 60 for both makes the BMW will be churning faster....another indication of a lower gear ratio.
In the end Lexus considers themselves a builder of luxury cars while BMW wants to be the 'ultimate driving machine'. You take your pick as they are cut from different molds.
Those gotta be the manual tranny numbers, I don't know about the Bimmer, but the Lexus manual tranny has much more aggressive ratio's than the auto, hence the quicker times and poorer miles per gallon.
