You get wood with everything but the sports package. The alum in the sport package is very clean looking but the wood has a very nice look as well. Personally I think the wood is a bit nicer in a car of this type. Not sure if any carbon fiber kits are out on the market yet.

There may be some aftermarket interior trims in the future, but none that are acceptable in terms of quality for now.

The only ones available are "matching wood" plastic pieces for other parts of the car's interior. "Wood dash kits" suck and cheapen the look of the car.

Personally, I'm going to wait for a Piano Black or Blackwood option that is not a stick-on plastic piece. Carbon fiber is nice, but not my thing if it ain't real.

for sure it has to be the best of quality for me to be interested. I hate wood, to me it is tacky.

There are companies where you can send your trim pieces to and they will do anything you want to them, carbon fiber, piano black, aluminum...anything. for the amount of pieces in the IS, I assume it would be around $500 to change the trim.

That's the problem: those kits look cheap as they are only stickers you put on top of the pieces.

What I want are actual pieces made with or embedded with a product that is durable and permanent, such as the current wood or "aluminum" trim, not just plastic stick-on overlays...

Those are not stick on kits. If you read about the photogenesis process it clearly states that your stock trim pieces are pretty much repainted in the same process the OEMs use to create the look you want. You have to remove your stock pieces, send them to these people, they paint/coat them, they send them back and you re-install them. I've had this done on a few of my cars and the quality is top-notch. The aluminum in the LExus is painted plastic, not real aluminum. Also almost all cars that have carbon fiber trim stock are photogenisis, unless of course the car is over 100,000. in which case they usually use real carbon or simply leave portions of some body panels exposed.

Hmmm... I have to do a little research on it. It does sound enticing, but I'm still not sold.

Maybe someone should do photochops of the interior with different types of trim. Who's up for it?
