I will give my age away here.

I grew up calling cars with no posts between the windows "hardtops". Two door cars with posts were called coupes. That is what I love about my wife's MB CLK. It is so sweet with all the windows down and the moon roof open to go for an evening cruise.

Hmm, that's interesting, never thought of it that way, no formal B pillar defines a true coupe. So by definition, all convertibles are coupes - which does make sense . . .
