Plug for the IPOD
Anyone know where i can get the plug for the IPOD hook up in the car?
I cant seem to find one that plugs into the IPOD then to the input in the car jack?

For anyone who's looking for a ipod charger that fits well in the 12v outlet under the arm rest, check out Monster Cable's iCarCharger it also has a line out to connect to your aux input. Some say its better then the output on top of the ipod which is amplified for headphone use. However, as most of you know, playing the ipod while charging it causes some noise, so FYI. I usually charge it everyother day or so, and then disconnect from the outlet to use it. You can find it for around $30-40.

I bought the DLO AutoPod Car Charger for Apple® iPod™ from BestBuy. It works good and lets me close the armrest. For now I have a headphone to headphone jack cable that I got from RadioShack for a couple bucks. I can fit the wires through the front of the armrest with it all the way forward. The iPod sits right on the console below the shifter. I stuck some of those clear sheets for a digital camera screen on top of the wood trim so I don't get any scratches from the metal back of the ipod.

BounceNY makes a great point, I was using a Monster charger but it was adding noticable whine from the car's electronics... However if I just plug in the iPod via the headphone jack, I get crystal clear sound.
One other point, I've had to turn the volume all the way up on the ipod to get acceptable sound in the car. Oh, and the equalizer settings on the iPod make a big difference in the sound too.
All in All, I'm totally pleased with the sound that I am getting in the car... I do wish that Lexus had gone "all the way" with the iPod support though :/

yea i bought monster cable mini jack from bestbuy for 15 or 20.. i forget.. but the wire was 7ft long but i wanted something thats 4 1/2 but whatever... but i returned it.. cause if you look on the monstercable website.. the msrp on that cable was $1 cheaper then what bestbuy was selling it for...so i returned it and bought it off ebay for $9... but quailty on using my ipod is ok, it isn't all that alot of my songs are at 192 bit rate... but the tracks i have at 256 and higher seem to be at a decent quailty from the stock system
I just don't like the fact that the volume control is comming from the ipod... but a couple bucks for an accessory to use something i already have in my car is doable

for those of you who are using a powered adapter and have a "whine", you need a noise cancellation "adapter". you can probably pick one up from radio shack. the one i have for my other (non-lexus) car was setup with rca jacks, so i grabbed an rca to mini adapter as well.
only thing, in the lexus arm rest, it might get too cramped in there, but the sound is great and more importantly, the volume is controlled through the radio and not the ipod.

Bounce also made a good point about the Monster adapter, it uses the dock at the bottom of the iPod to send the signal to the aux-input of the car. If you have this option available to you, USE IT. It provides a signal, that hasn't been headphone manipulated straight to the car, and the volume isn't adjusted on the iPod when you go this route. On your iPod dock at home, you'll notice a jack on the back to plug it into your home stereo. That's the option you go there, if you can do the same in your car. Your ears will thank you.
