non ML system: ASL and Sound settings
do you guys use the ASL?
what does it do exactly.. raise volume as you go faster?? is it solely based on speed?? or does it actually detect noise
and how do you guys set the bass/mid/high settings .. for lets say hip hop/electronic music mainly
i think i have mine 5 bass 4 mid 5 high...
cuz all 3 of my previous cars had custom systems that had way more adjustment.. and i feel like the stock system is kinda flat... how do you guys make it sound good

I use the ASL and it "seems" to be responding the the level of noise in the cabin. And I have to agree with you, the stock sound system does sound a bit blah. However with a bit of tweaking of the controls, you can get acceptable quality... assuming that you are NOT an audiophile.

I don't use ASL. I did notice when it was on the bass was louder when I slowed down and the ASL had not adjusted the sound yet.
I also have my tone controls set flat but I have upgraded the front speakers to Boston Acoustics Z6 speakers and added an Alpine 4 channel amp givng each speaker 125 watts (the speakers and passive crossovers are biamped). I do have the gain on the tweeter channels lower than the mids due to the Z6 tweeters being "hot" to compensate for an install with the tweeter down low in the door or kick panel, not up high like the 2IS.
