Navigation tint issue
Guys,
About the get my window tinted this weekend, and i just want to make sure that the Navi Antenna locates at the front windshield instead of the back so the metallic tint will not affect the signal.
Thanks for all the input!

If you want to make sure it doesn't impact your navigation, don't get metallic tint at all, regardless of antenna location (get ceramic or non-metallic).
Many members who have metallic tint on Lexus on our forum end up stripping it off at a later point once they run into issues with the nav.

thanks for all the response, I am now thinking about getting probably the metallic on the front/rear windows and have the ceramic done at the back probably. I don't know if anyone here had done it in that fashion?
Btw, I had an appointment with Best in Tustin, I've heard lots of great things about them.

They also have 'hybrids' which are partial metal and not fully metallic.
If you don't mind the cost, just do ceramic all around.
If you must do metal, use the hybrid.
I went with a premium dye, it was really inexpensive compared to ceramic & metallic (labor's the same, so only difference is the film) . . .

Just so you know, the NAV antenna is on the Windshield next to the rear view mirror.
You shouldn't have any problems with the NAV regardless of what sort of tint you use.

I used to think this too, seemed logical enough. Now read Dave's post (#2) - I don't know about you, but I put a lot of stock in the forum admin's opinion, so if he says there ARE problems, I'd err on the side of caution - YMMV . . .

Dave drives a GS per his forum name.
The GS NAV antenna is NOT on the windshield. That's why he's seen problems, and probably has heard problems from other GS forum members.

I have Madico Onyx, which is metallic tint on all my windows except for the windshield. I have Madico Ceramic on the front windshield. I assure you for the 2IS, there is NO problems with my Navigation system. It works flawlessly. Other cars will be different like per DaveGS4. He owns a 2GS, the Nav antenna could be in a different position. Ours is in the front dash, above the headunit I believe.
