IS 250 vs. IS 300
What is faster, an IS 250 manual or an IS 300 auto? I assume an IS 300 manual is faster than either form of the 250 as it is lighter and has more power, but I'd be interested to know if I lined up against an auto IS 300 if my manual 250 could pull on it? The specs are as follows:
IS 300 Auto
3,270 lbs of curb weight
215 hp
218 lbs/tq
IS 250 Manual
3,455 lbs of curb weight
204 hp
185 lbs/tq
So, what do y'all think? I'm gonna find one to race but haven't been able to quite yet.

No I doubt it. I wonder if you would get pulled on. The lack of TQ and the added weight really hurt.
That being said, I would take the 06 250 over an 01-05 IS 300. So dont worry about it. The 250 is better looking and more refined. And with gas prices the way they are.... The 250 is the much better choice

You're kidding right ?
All other things being equal, the 300 is lighter, has more hp & torque and will take you off the line, to 60 and in the 1/4.
If you really want to 'race' one, do it at the strip where you guys will not be putting anyone else in harms way . . .

I posted awhile back regarding a stop light race with an IS300.
He gave me a complement on the car was and ask to see if i can keep up.
It was stock for sure.
not knowing anything about the 1st Gen i said okay.
In the end he had about 2 to 3 cars length in front and was still pulling away.
He then gave me a and said nice car!
I know would have a better chance in rolling start or straight away.
