Question G-Spider Wheel Question

I see that the G-Spiders come in 18x8" for the front and 18x8.5" for the rears on the IS. On the GS Spiders are actually 18x8" on all four corners. I am going to get an new IS soon and plan on getting the Spiders from group purchase and I was wondering if I could go 18x8" all around so that I could rotate the tires in the future ensuring they will last awhile longer.

Is there a problem with wheel offset that i should be aware of?

Are the stock 18" tires the same size front and rear?

Seeing as I would only be losing .5" of width I don't think it will be a noticeable difference as far as the look goes and it will definitely benifit the tires in the long run.

Whad'ya guys think? Has anybody done this? How does it look?

Hey!!! Quit hijacking my thread!

Check out the "Sewell – Lexus Online, only at lexus-parts.com – Summer Promotion" thread in the Vendor Marketplace forum.

Thanks! Thats a pretty good deal especially with trade in I guess. Can the same tires be used off the stock rims on the G-Spider?

I didn't know if it was considered OK to post that link in this forum otherwise I would have. Thanks for giving the direct link to these folks.

Now who knows the answer to my questions???

if you switch the rims for 2 18x8 and 2 18x8.5, then yes, the same tires will work just fine. but if you want to do what KevinL is doing, then you will have to get 2 more 18x8 tires for the rears... (but you can sell the 18x8.5's that come with the car)

i don't know the answer, but i'm interested in the Tourmalines, which don't come in 18x8.5 maybe you can post the same question in the wheel and tire forum for a faster response?

Why would you need to get 2 new tires? As far as I know the tires are all the same size from the factory on staggered sizes. Tires don't differ that much in width to make a difference on .5".

because you get two different sizes:

two 18 x 8.0-in alloy wheels with 225/40YR18 tires front, two 18 x 8.5-in alloy wheels with 255/40YR18 tires rear

i thought the point of you wanting to getting the GS spyders was so you could have 4 identical tires in which to rotate? with the factory setup you are getting 2 on front, 2 on rear...

OK. That was another question in my post that wasn't answered.

I thought that the tires might be the same size front and back. So your saying they're not. Got it.

In that case I will stick to the staggered config since the smaller tires would look stupid on the back I would imagine.
