Super Audio CD
I've seen people lump it in with DVD-A here on more than one occasion, as if the technologies are interchangeable.
From what I've seen thus far, our cars cannot decode SACDs.
This is a public service announcement.

Sony is the most arrogant, self righteous, pompous electronics company in the world. If you have a good product, why not make even more money on it by signing the rights to different manufacturers?
They're doing it with blu-ray DVDs as well. The new High Definition DVD formats are HD-DVD (Toshiba and most other DVD manufacturers), or Sony's Blu-Ray (proprietary). Since the two formats are not interchangable, movie companies have to commit to one format or the other. So far, most are committing to HD-DVD, and some will commit to both. But there will be a chance in the future that you will own one format of DVD player, and your favorite movie will be available only in the other format.
They can shove their blu-rays right up their betas!

There is a big difference between the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray and the VHS/Beta situation. Namely, that the physical media is the same size, opening up the possibility of dual format players in the future. Still, the format war has already slowed adoption of the technology.
In my opinion, independant standards organizations like the IEEE, ISO and others should be promulating these formats, not private industry.
