Default Is the 10% for 350's true?

A dealer told me only 10% of IS production is 350's. If that's true, it certainly helps explain why the dealers have so few.

What it doesn't explain is why Lexus would keep a cork in the potential for a lot more sales. Yeah, I know exclusivity makes for more demand, but MEETING the demand is what goes to the bottomline on the financial statement.

Every dealer I've talked to tells me they could sell many more 350's if they just gets their hands on them.

So HELLO, Lexus ... !

I'd imagine more like 20% but I rarely see any other 350's around, while seeing a mess
of 250's

that does sound ridiculous. Why in the heck would Lexus limit their 3-series killer to only 10% production? Makes ZERO sense to me. You didnt happen to tell him you were looking for one did you? Maybe they are just trying take make sure they get MSRP for all the 350s right now to try and recoup R&D costs...lol

I don't know either way but when I got mine, there were 3 350's on the lot and at least 20 250's. My blk/blk, nav, ml, sport was the only one in that configuration they had coming in for that month. I called and reserved it as it was being unloaded and prepped.

I don't know about the percentage thing, but in here, I see more 350 instead of 250...

everytime i see a 2is on the road, i can't tell whether it is a 250 or a 350 unless i roll up behind it at a stop light. so 95% of the rare ones i actually see go unidentified.

it is hard to spot a 350 from a 250, but when I do get a chance, i'd say 99.9% of them are 250.. i rarely see any 350 around here which makes me happy

im sure they looked at BMW 325/330 trends when they decided the production ratios, the 325 sells 4x more than the 330 does. 350s are flying off the lot, while 250s are sitting around, lexus underestimated how much the 350 sells, 100 factory hp + bigger brakes for 5-6k msrp is one hell of a deal, BMW has nothing like that

Here in Monmouth County NJ, most of the 2IS cars I see on the road are the IS250 AWD. Not sure what percentage of production is AWD, but I'm pretty sure they are over-represented here. (And we don't even get all that much snow...)

we don't get much snow either but some but the way dealers are seller awd, you'd think we were in minnesota. but it think they push awd because the stock 350 is so bad in inclement weather. and because the rwd is300 was so poor. i will buy the first awd 350 model year.

Look at the front wheels. The 350 has big brakes, whereas the 250 has 'regular' brakes.

Production is based on deman. If there is more people buying 350s then they will increase the production on the next production cycle. However the demand for 350 from the general Lexus car buying public is not that great. The auto enthusiast on this board is a very small % of the buying public. Most people can't even tell the difference between them a 250 and a 350 and not willing to pay the higher price for it. In short, manufacturer doe not control the production #, supply and demand does.
