Is the 10% for 350's true?
A dealer told me only 10% of IS production is 350's. If that's true, it certainly helps explain why the dealers have so few.
What it doesn't explain is why Lexus would keep a cork in the potential for a lot more sales. Yeah, I know exclusivity makes for more demand, but MEETING the demand is what goes to the bottomline on the financial statement.
Every dealer I've talked to tells me they could sell many more 350's if they just gets their hands on them.
So HELLO, Lexus ... !

that does sound ridiculous. Why in the heck would Lexus limit their 3-series killer to only 10% production? Makes ZERO sense to me. You didnt happen to tell him you were looking for one did you? Maybe they are just trying take make sure they get MSRP for all the 350s right now to try and recoup R&D costs...lol

I don't know either way but when I got mine, there were 3 350's on the lot and at least 20 250's. My blk/blk, nav, ml, sport was the only one in that configuration they had coming in for that month. I called and reserved it as it was being unloaded and prepped.

Here in Monmouth County NJ, most of the 2IS cars I see on the road are the IS250 AWD. Not sure what percentage of production is AWD, but I'm pretty sure they are over-represented here. (And we don't even get all that much snow...)

Production is based on deman. If there is more people buying 350s then they will increase the production on the next production cycle. However the demand for 350 from the general Lexus car buying public is not that great. The auto enthusiast on this board is a very small % of the buying public. Most people can't even tell the difference between them a 250 and a 350 and not willing to pay the higher price for it. In short, manufacturer doe not control the production #, supply and demand does.
