Default Huper Optik or Llumar

I've read through like every tint thread in here but I have yet to see a thread comparing these two tints if you take price out of the equation. A lot of people say go Llumar because Huper Optik isn't worth the extra money. That is all fine and good but my situation is that I am getting it done for free. So if you were getting it done for free which would you choose? A metallic tint like Llumar or a ceramic tint like Huper Optik?

Thanks!

Vit

Well, over at some forums, it has been reported that some metallic tint might affect the Nav.

Default Installer more important than the product?

From the sounds of things, it might be more important to find an installation company that you can trust, and use the product that they recommend, and have had success with.

Huper cannot be installed using heat-shrinking without ghosting. The IS has curved side windows which make it extremely difficult for an installer that doesn't use heat. I had mine redone after I had ghosting and was told it was very difficult. My installer is very good. The rear window is curved also and could not be stretched in part due to its size, shape, and the ability to get back there. It could be stretched if it was done in two pieces and joined on a deforst line but I opted to live with it.

By the way, the ghosting is only visible at an extremely acute viewing angle and in direct sunlight.

That is good info Dabigman. The place I am going to is an authorized Huper Optik installer and actually the only one in the Chicagoland area.

If metallic tint causes interference with nav (or has the potential to) and the Huper Optik tint may cause ghosting if it is heat shrunk, then what other options are there?

Anyone else with Huper Optik on their IS have ghosting issues?

I had Formula One Pinnacle put on my 250. It's ceramic tint - love it.
