Suspension clunk?

Suspension clunk?
I tried searching a bit on this clunk that I'm experiencing and turned up nothing, other then sunroof creeks.
Anyway, I noticed that the front suspension clunks when you drive over rough bumps on the road, or imperfections, dips, etc. Anytime the suspension is jolted suddenly.
Now, you will NEVER hear this with the windows closed, even if the music is off. But once I roll down the windows, oh lordy! I can hear that baby go clunk! I still have stock suspension, it's been doing it a while, just didn't bother me much until I drove with the windows down for a whole day.
Curious if anyone experienced this.

I have the similar issue. The only difference is when I apply pressure to the brakes. Nearly two months ago, I had the front pads replaced due to excessive squeaking (8500 mi). Afterwards, the squeaking went away only to return. Nearly two weeks ago, I noticed that when I applied moderate pressure to the brakes, they will grind and make a "thud" or "clunk" sound.
I am taking it in on Monday to find out what's wrong.

I have the same problem, started noticing it about 4 wks after purchase. Seems to come from right rear suspension. Makes a "clack" sound whenever it drops after I've hit a bump. I'll bring it up during my 5k service.

It's prettty darn loud.
HoustonIS, Yeah it sounds just like that. The heard if on another CL members' car while we were slowing down for a red light, since then he got it fixed and the dealer said it was the parking brake
But I was under the impression it was the fronts, at least from what I can hear
Guess it's the dealer I go.

Uh oh...I haven't noticed this yet on my IS and I hope I don't, on my last vehicle, a 2002 Dodge Dakota, a very similar clunk to the one you described resulted in a recall of the ball joints, apparently they were some cheapo ball joints and the self-contained lube in them would wear out extremely prematurely, causing a degradation of the ball joint and the dreaded "suspension clunk".

I am experiencing a similar issue. To me, it seems like it is coming from the left front. Has anyone brought their car back to the dealer to have it checked? I am going on Wednesday for 5K oil change will bring it up then.

Whenever you guys get back from the dealership, please post what you know. Its gonna be another 3 months until my 5k, so if it's something serious, I may take it in before then.

I haven't had the time to take it to the dealer yet. Busy as of late.
I will definately need to find a piece of road that can I duplicate the sound near the dealer. I can do it down the street from my house, but I doubt I can drag the tech all the way home
Probably take it in next week when I change my oil, gotta dump the dirty factory oil.

Picked up my car this evening. Unable to dupicate noise. Went for a ride with technician. He did hear it once, but wasnt sure what it could be. Any one have any insight on what this noise may be?
