Default I found another Ipod charger that fits with the lid closed.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=4454338

It's very low profile and fits just fine with the lid closed.

Why would you use that charger? Vaistech.com has a kit for your Ipod, which you don't have to use the charger any more. It'll charge automaticly. In addition, you can control your ipod using the steering buttons.

I use that charger, got it from best buy, works good but when I plug it in and play it in high volume, theres a whirring sound.

Some people dont want to use Vaistech or anything like it because they are expensive.

You use that if you don't want to spend $200+ on a VaisTech kit.

(I ordered the Vaistech kit, but I'm responding to your question.)

I know $200 sound alot, but it is for your own good. You don't have reach in your armrest to get the ipod while driving to change a song.
With the kit you can just press a button on the steering wheel. In addition, you will have cleaner sound. The aux input in the armrest has the problem with grounding that's y you hear sound when turn your volume up while driving. (You have to get a grounding kit at radio shack to illiminate the problem, I beleived)
If you don't want to open up the console to install, than bring it to a shop and have them install for you.
Just my opinion.

I'm all for proper iPod integration, but that is still a pretty ignorant comment. Not everyone wants to spend $200+ on a charger, nor rip their dash apart just to charge their iPod on that rare occasion.

Problem with that charger is that it doesn't let you access the line level audio output. Using the headphone jack on the iPod degrades the sound quality.

Sorry for my bad english. I didn't say that the charger is $200 or rip the dash just to charge the ipod. Who'd want to do that?
What I wanted to say is that if you buy the charger and a grounding kit for your ipod, Why not use $200 to buy the kit, so you can control your ipod with your factory system and not worry about charging it. It'll automaticly charge for you.

We understand. It's just that given the two options to choose from, more people would choose the charger over the vais setup. That is all.

The short answer is, where ever you want. It comes with a cable and it is up to you where to route the cable. You can put it in the glove box, the center console, the ash tray, where ever you want it to be.
