Default Venting from dealer experience....

I called about 2 weeks ago to the local dealer (Bellevue Lexus in WA) for the 10k mile service + the seatbelt recall - anyway dropped the car off on Saturday am - got a call around 3.00pm from the SA, saying that they did not have the seat belt replacement in stock and it would take about 2 weeks to get the parts in - anyway, I question them on why they went ahead with the initial booking - the SA didn't have an answer. Got a call from him about an hour later - they found that one of the a/c filters needed replacement at a cost of $70 - I query why this would need replacing after 6 months - he didn't know and furthermore I hardly used the a/c since it's cold in the Pacific North West from November.
I pick up the car - bill - $240 (10k service + filter) - and to add insult to injury, they washed the car, but not the wheels.
Should I nail them on the service survey or should I call the service manager?

Did you ask them not to wash it? If not, they're definitely going to wash it. But as far as not washing the wheels...thats bs.

I would try talking to the Service Manager first and explain your concerns. If that doesn't work, fill out the survey and send it in.

I think the survey is very important to the dealerships as good or bad results actually have a monetary impact on the dealership.

FYI, the AC filter is spec'd for replacement at 30k miles. It's also a $30 part, which you can replace yourself in about 2 minutes.

Ah. I thought you didn't want it washed. So the basic issue is the $70 charge for the AC filter and not washing your wheels?

That + the waste of my time to rush the car in, then being told that the parts are on a 2-week back order because I had 9700 miles, so I could have waited the 2 weeks before doing the 10k service.

yes that is correct, the seat belt parts needs to be ordered. since the recall is well underway, perhaps dealers would have the parts in stock for a least a few cars by now since the recall work probably has to be done.

That cabin air filter should NOT need replacing after < 10K miles. I'd bring that up with the service manager. Did they offer to show you the old one? I'm thinking they took you for a ride on that one.

Hey Seattle 350... I bought my IS in bellevue and i havent had it serviced yet. but i did have them install ISPs on them and do clearbra etc. i asked them about how much it would cost to buy and install a spoiler. they told me 995 dollars.... i told my self BS this service dept is out of their minds. even if they might do good work.... im pretty sure they are out to get your money like crazy...

my uncle tells me he gets great service at the Tacoma in Fife dealership. i will probably get it done there. maybe you should too

I purchase my IS350 from Bellevue as well. I am having them install ISPs, clear bra, and the paint protection. I know I am being taken for a ride, but these Items I wanted done at the dealership. (First new car.) After reading some of these types of posts I am wondering about the oil changes, etc. though.

On a side note: How picky are they with the mileage at service intervals? I only have about 200 miles on mine so I have time, but when I bring it in for the 5000 mile service, when should I get it done? 4500? >5000? >5500?

Thanks

I bought my car down in southern California and had it shipped up here to Seattle, so I'm actually a little nervous about beginning a relationship with either Lexus of Seattle or Lexus of Bellevue for the simple fact of them possibly not wanting to treat me right since I didn't buy from them.

I wanted all-weather floor mats, so I went to Lexus of Seattle. They told me $115, so I was like screw that. I emailed Bellevue, and they told me $125. For FLOOR MATS? I ended up buying a brand new set on Ebay for $70.

Anyone prefer between the two, Seattle or Bellevue?

Even though Seattle350 has had a bad experience with Bellevue...Lexus of Seattle is widely known has having the absolute worst service in the area.

Unfortunately in this area...it's better off getting the service done from Bellevue and getting the service manager to apologize with a gift each time.
