Extended or Std coverage on Clear Bra
I am getting a clear bra put on tomorrow and they offered to do the Standard or Extended coverage on the hood. They use Xpel. I think Standard was like 18 and extended was 24. (I could be wrong).
Anyway do you guys think the extended is worth it? Do a lot of things hit that high up? At that point it's almost horizontal so I would think with the angle it would be unlikely to get hit.
I think the cost is around 70-80 dollars more for the extended. I'm on a budget so that extra 70-80 dollars would be put to good use.
What do you guys think?
Thanks

I went with the 24" hood piece....I figured that since I was getting it done at all I might as well get the largest area of protection available. I'd be pissed if I got a rock chip an inch or two above the shorter film. Same thing could happen with the 24", but it's far less likely. I also think the IS's hood is more vulnerable than most cars because it slopes upward dramatically pretty much its entire length...most cars have a flatter hood so only the leading edge is highly vulnerable.
And finally...spend a little now vs. potentially a lot more later.

I thought about it but went cheap in the end and stuck wiht just the std coverage... If you can affod it and dont mind go for it.
And I can tell you now you'll probably... 75 to 80% will get one or two small rock chips right above the 18" cut off. I had the standard coverage on my previous car, a MINI and there were 2 - 3 rock chips RIGHT above the standard coverage of the bra.

Just a local shop here. They seem to do a lot of nice cars. I watched them work on a Cayman and they seem to be very meticulous. They also do a lot of work for the Mercedes dealership in the area.
