New Yorkers! AWD or 350?
#2
I live in NJ and commute to NYC. I went with the AWD because when its rains or snows here, any rear wheel drive car will cause problems. And many here said get snow tires, but i dont want to spent more $$ on a car just so it wont slide in bad weather. Then again, I'm not a performance guy, so it didnt kill me to get the IS250 AWD vs. the IS350.
In this area, better to go with AWD IMO.

I live in NJ and commute to NYC everyday. I went with the 350 over the awd because I had previously owned a G35 Coupe 6speed and did very well with it in the snow seasons. I'm planning on some good winter road tires for the winter and I should be set.

live in westchester and going for the 350.
just throw on some snow tires, VDIM helps, and take it easy.
besides, how many actual BIG enough snow days are there each year to warrant AWD? just stay home!

Haven't we had this thread about 10 times already?
If you aren't driving in heavy snow or driving up and down a lot of hills or unplowed roads, you will be fine, as long as you get winter or all-season tires. For more serious winter driving, such as driving up steep hills in a blizzard, get the 250 AWD.

I live in CT and commute to NYC - part car, part train.
I got the IS350 after 6 years of driving AWD SUVs.
What I did, was to get the 18" wheels with summer tires, and will buy snow tires for the winter. I may buy 17" wheels for those, or just swittch tires on the 18" Don't know yet.
What I know from experience is, the winter tires will pay for themselves in 2 years, since I won't be putting as much mileage on my expensive summer rubber!
With the few snowstorms we get in metro New york, snow tires on RWD is fine. This ain't Vermont or Maine!
