"What wattage are your Luminics on you tC CarDudeRI? why did they melt the harness?"

the wattage of the luminics was 55watts... same as stock factory bulb, and that's why i purchased them. even though the wattage was the same, perhaps they draw a higher amperage? I don't know... but either way, i can guarantee you that they melted the harnesses of my scion - and to buy brand new scion harnesses was something crazy like $500. it didn't matter cuz that car ended up by being totalled very soon after that, and now i have the 2IS. I'm just afraid to put the bulbs in my lexus as i don't want the same thing to happen. i have contaced luminics on many occasions to ask them questions, and they repeatedly fail to respond to any of the emails.

Yikes! that scares me. I don’t want it to melt the harness. If the math is all correct I’m not afraid. BUT what I am afraid is that they lie. And the current draw is actually MORE than what the calculations say. Ya i Know it "says" 12V 55W and from calculations I = P/V which equals about 4.5amps.

What I don’t know what the box means is it says “55W = 100W” As in 55W draw = 100W output power. That’s the part that’s fishy and scares me. I’ll monitor my harness and see what happens.

Can anyone shed some more “light” on this issue? A better explaination?

Is the Hoen stock wattage? Also, how does the Hoen compared to stock brightness, if you know.

I installed MTEC 4750K 2x cosmos blue and I ended up throwing them away after 2 days - it was very dim.

i just installed the folling:

parking light: 5-led refractor
low beam: Luminics Pure Blue H11
DRLs: Luminics Titanium White 9005

the parking lights are GREAT.. perfect bright white color. the DRLs are decent. as they are not as white as i expected them to be.. only when you high-beam.. do you get the true white color and the luminics Pure blue h11 have a nice blue tint to them.. but have absolutely the worst light output ever.. i can barely see anything. its as if my lights werent even on at all. they are only purely for looks. i cant wait until i get my HIDs..

So... has anyone had any problems with aftermarket NON-HID bulbs yet? I'd still like to replace the low beams with Luminics, but want to know if any long term damage (such as harness melting as mentioned above in one of my posts) has happened to anyone? thanks.

No problems here. I did a follow up on them a few weeks after I instlled them and the harness and wires are all fine. No signs of over heating or melting.
