Default Crystal White or GFM?

I keep going back and forth, and can't decide which color to get, white or GFM. GFM looks so blue on the Lexus website (I don't want a blue car), and so different in person. Some pictures of GFM on this site just blow me away. Crystal white also looks great, very classy, but is much more common. Convice me one way or another.

a 84972055872450-page post with the exact same title!

Oh, GFM all the way.

Oh wait, get Crystal White, so GFM is more rare.

Another one of these threads?

hahaha, Sorry, I'm just busting your chops.

GFM = Rare, but it's a love it or hate it color.

Crystal White = Can't go wrong with it, Beautiful, clean, Common.

It will be easier to get a Crystal White car. As for GFM, over a overcast day, it will look silverish with a blue glow.

I really deserve to be flamed by this post, but that's the difference between a Lexus forum and GM or Ford forum. You guys have class, just like your cars.

Welcome to the club!

By the way, the day I came back to the dealership to pick up my license plates, they just sold and was preparing a Crystal White IS for pick up and boy did I hope I waited to see it in person before deciding!

i agree 100%. love it or hate it. i've gotten a ton of compliments about GFM since day 1 - it looks clean all the time, it's so sparkly, and "is that paint/color stock?" i love silver and i love white, and this is kinda the best of both worlds IMHO. (BTW - welcome to CL! )

The best way to choose is to have them side by side. I saw them side by side...and what a difference. GFM for SURE!

I don't think we can answer that question for you. You need to go to the dealership and see both colors. If they don't have an IS, you can use the GS to compare the colors.

Do not use the Lexus web site to judge the colors because they are not even close to the colors of the cars. You also have to be careful using the forum pics to judge the colors because 99.9% of the users here do not have a color calibrated monitor and what looks bright white to them could be a dull white on your monitor etc. Something like GFM you really shouldn't judge based on pics here.

Having said that, I considered both of those colors and I don't think you can go wrong with either one. GFM is a color that is probably more unique to Lexus.

For some reason, the pearl/mica effect of the crystal white doesn't show up in photographs.

When viewed close up under bright sunlight or under artificial light (e.g. parking lot lights), the crystal white has a real cool mica effect. If flat lighting, or from across the parking lot, it just looks like regular non-metallic white.

I was going to get a GFM car as an allocation because I saw the car on a sunny day and it looked great. But when I went to the dealer to sign papers I wanted to see the car again and it was an overcast day and the car was purple/blue. I didn't like it at all, looks very feminine on an overcast day. So I was going to go with CW, but the dealer said that CW is the toughest color to match and the car would have to be repainted because it is impossible to match the color of CW if you get it scratched. He compared it to the White Diamond color on Caddy's.

I decided to cancel my GFM and put Tungsten Pearl as my #1 and Smokey Granite as my #2.
