Default Lexus dealer wants $695 for clear bra...

Is this good? Should I shop elsewhere? Where do people get this done in Boston? Thanks!

I live on the other coast, but I just paid $500 for mine. That included everything but the mirrors and headlights. Granted you live in a more expensive area, but Lexus is making a tidy profit in there for sure.

You also need to understand what the dealer is going to clear bra. My dealer said they do not install the bra over the front bumper. Its only part of the hood and mirrors. A few others have been told the same by their Lexus dealer. My dealer swears that the plastic bumper cannot be damaged by rocks.

You will find that all independent shops include the front bumper.

They had it on a GS in the showroom. Bumper was done. Side mirrors were done. Hood and headlights were done too. Any other experiences?

Should I negotiate to $400? What is a fair price?

$500 is ok, especially because they'll cover it under warranty for 4/50k. =)

I think $400 would be too low, but you can lowball them and settle at $500 which would be fair IMO.

I just took mine directly to the guy that does all the Lexus, Bimmer, and MB dealerships. He charged me $450 for the 3M deluxe kit (bumper, hood, mirrors). The dealer quoted me $600 for the standard kit.....

you know, if my dealer had offered to do the clear bra install for $695 I probably would have taken them up on it (sure I'd try to negotiate it down but that would be acceptable to me) ... assuming they did good work (I'd have to look at another car they did to make sure). It would be worth it to me to know they put it on right at the dealership before I drive it and start collecting rock chips. My dealership didn't offer it so I ended up going with a local installer who charged $650 and I had to wait a month ... in the meantime I got several rock chips from normal driving. Just my .02 cents...

Man, I'm so glad I found this site! Would never have known about a clear bra. The advantages are obvious, and worth the $ IMO. But what about the appearance? Is it noticable??

I had front bumper, headlights and fog lights done via pre cut kit. I then had asked the guy to wrap the entire hood, (I did not wanted to cross line to show) and then I asked the back bumper done also. He also coved the outside rear mirrors, the fuel lid and inside the driver and passenger doorsills as bonus. Because there was a lot of custom work done, my cost was $970. I think its worth it.

Wow, all you need to do it the doors and your whole car will be covered!
Actually having the whole hood done was a great idea, i should of got that, the line
doesnt show much at all, but for what probably would of costed another $150 it would
of been worth it just not to see any line at all, and also have your entire hood protected to boot
