Default Sport owners: What was your last car?

And how does the IS sport suspension compare in stiffness, harshness, comfort, etc?

Mine was a Mazda RX-8 with sport-tuned suspension. The IS sport suspension (combined with the plush leather seats) is noticeably more comfortable and less harsh. I found the RX-8 comfortable enough, but, frankly, with a couple more years of age on the ol' keester, the increased plushness is not unwelcome.

'00 Audi A4 1.8t Quattro w/sport suspension.

Our new IS350 feels a tad harsher, but I think it's the 18s and the stiff sidewalls. Doesn't bother me, but over rough pavement you can definitely feel it. The Lexus is so tightly put together (nary a rattle or squeak) that it's fine. Before the A4 we had a '90 300ZX 2+2 that was stiffer than either sedan.

2002 Bmw 330cic, sport package. The Bmw had a bit more of a stiffer ride, but
it absorbed big bumps well. The bmw "gave me a feeling" of better handling, but
i doubt it actually handled better than my IS..

"Feeling" is a very important component of handling. It is the feedback that tells the driver where the limits of the car are. It is also a big part of what makes a car fun-to-drive. If there was a mod that would replicate the steering feel of the 3 series on my IS350, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I plan to get a sport package IS350 later on. I currently have a 2000 prelude lowered about .75" with 18" 215/35/18 tires. That had a somewhat rough ride I was used to it. The IS350 felt super smooth to me when I was driving it, so it will be an improvement

Had a 2001 330ci modded, including suspension. Stock vs stock (both with sport susp) I feel the BMW was a little less harsh but had a tighter / better feel. The IS is a little rough but certainly not too bad and exactly what I would expect from a sport sedan. My wife's 2005 Mustang (not the GT) has a MUCH harsher ride.
I agree with Tony1 - I don't really know if the IS would be that much behind the BMW in handling. Not as much as people say anyway. I'll let you all know in the spring with I'm out with my racing group on the 2 mile roadcourse. Most of the other cars are Porsche and BMW. Should be interesting.

I had a GX470...the GX was like driving on clouds. The IS350 sport lets you feel the road! i love it.

Nice looking car. No offense to former (and present) owners, but I don't understand how Infiniti could get the styling of the coupe so right, and the styling of the sedan so wrong...

Especially at first. They put the black plastic lower panels on it... that looks terrible I think for 04 or 05 they put a more aerodynamic-looking, body-colored kit on it which helped quite a bit.

I'm a former Cavalier Z24 (be gentile, I'm embarrased as well) and a current ES300 owner. So I've really been all over the spectrum with ride quality. The Z24 rode like a skateboard (when it actually worked) and the ES300 rides like a boat on calm water.

i'm coming from a '03 Eclipse Spyder GT. although I'm gonna miss the convertible fun, you can't compromise with the luxury. Spyder was plastic throughout.

After test driving the IS350 a few times and really liking the car, I'm still not convinced that I'll be able to get over the lack of "feel" compared to my 3 series. I'm worried i'd get bored with the driving dynamics of the IS after a while. For those of you that got a new IS after owning a 3 series, do you miss the way your 3 drove (steering, road feel, handling)?
